Music resonates within the walls of this family house. Nishita belongs to a family where music was part of a day to day affair. Many members of this family were associated with the music industry.
During her childhood, she was sure of her aspirations. She was never inclined towards becoming a Doctor or an Engineer. She loved to be center stage and have a mike in her hand. Her father, now a retired employee from the Accountant General’s Office gave her little capsules of opportunities at office events. She loved the chances to anchor events and make her mark on stage. She also tried her hand at singing.
Nishita had Mrs. Rupa as her mentor and she encouraged her to go into metro cities and take up this field seriously. In 2007 there was a Voice of the Day award she bagged while pursuing her second year of BA Graduation. Nishita was the top three contestants.
She wanted to pursue a job when she landed a job at the English Academy as a counselor which would help her foot her own expenses without burdening her family. At an exhibition at the racecourse ground in Rajkot , the academy she worked had a stall. Lucky for her the head of a radio station visited the stall and was impressed with her. He subsequently invited her for an interview for an RJ. It was a dream come true and a door to opportunity.
After her initial rounds of interview, she received a call from the Ahmedabad office for the next round of interview. However, Nishita did not get her confirmed offer letter; hence she took up to continuing with her studies – MA in English Literature from Saurashtra University.
Two months into college, she got her confirmation and joined A Radio station as an RJ in August 2009, keeping the education journey on hold until 2011 when she started with her MBA in Media and Entertainment from Annamalai University, Coimbatore Distance Learning.
Nishita tied the knot and got married in 2015 and shifted to Ahmedabad from Rajkot. She continued her stint with RedFM until 2018 , recently working with “Radio one” at Ahmedabad. Nishita is making her association with this Radio channel a total nine years. Taking a small leap Nishta joined television (Doordarshan) in January 2019 as a newsreader.
Every career comes with its upside and downside. Most people in the entertainment, hospitality and service industry have no holidays, hence missing out on family get-together, festivals, and occasions. RJ’s role comes with the same challenges. Being a public figure, an RJ ought to deliver something unique and possess a unique individualistic personality. He or she should not copy or mimic another known figure and should create a niche on their own.
Setting examples and being awarded appreciation for a job well done is indeed a treasure to cherish and Nishita is proud of what she does with dedication and humility. Nishita has a very chirpy voice and great delivery coupled with the presence of mind and dedication besides creativity and quick thinking, a very big USP for an RJ. Nishita has been awarded the best employee in the west zone tier 3 city category in 2011. Proud moment and major achievement of her RJ profile is that the only sponsored show of Ahmedabad at that time, which RJ Nishita was hosting. Though she was born in Mumbai and brought up in Rajkot, when she shifted to Ahmedabad she had to change her approach to suit the audience of that city. Adapting to the thought process of people from outside of a busy bustling city like Mumbai.
A platform of and RJ gave Nishita opportunities to give back to society by way of social work at various levels. She hosts a very popular noon show at the Radio channel. Radio one is the radio station where she is now enjoying her RJ profile.
RJ Nishita of Radio One, wanted to tell other enthusiastic youth who wanted to make career in RJ that “Entry into this field is not a cakewalk, a competitive area where an entry via journalism works well. “
Since she entered into the RJ field, a new RJ Nishita before a decade to RJ Nishita of Radio One, A very cordial interpersonal relation with co RJs is what she maintains and she has a few favorites, from whom she learns and makes amends if needed constructively.

Rome was not built in a day, similarly, no job or career can reach its peak in easy steps.
