As a famous quote tells “Life is unpredictable” and making best out of it the art of living. Ravi Raj Desai, the young entrepreneur in Surat who joined his family business to take it to a boom. He took the challenge from his unpredictable life and picked up his drowning family business to make it reach to the heights.
The birth of the entrepreneur
Ravi Raj Desai was born on 8th April 1993 at Manchester of EAST- Surat. The born engineer did his Civil Engineering from GTU and then MBA in Finance from NMIMS. He always wanted to become a civil engineer but life had its own plans. Where he planned to join a job in his 7th semester, he had to join his family business in 2014.
The journey from joining the business
The time Ravi had to join his family business of cotton and polyester yarn, the business was going through a great loss. The loss was so big that it was on the verge of closure. But because of his talent and skills, Ravi made sure that business didn’t just survive but soon started to grow.
Soon after he joined, he survived both the units of Navsari and Surat. In the next 3 years, he cleared all the debts and took the business to a roller coaster of growth as he started the 3rd unit in Navsari.
From there, he expanded his textile business and entered a new industry of real estate. He designed an urban office space that was 5 story building. With this, he got a 21 years long contract and provided with possession in just 18 months.
From real estate, he soon expanded himself to Food business. He acquired a hill at Kasauli hill station and started a cold food chain business over there.
He met with Himachal Gov. Chief minister personally during Rising Himachal Summit and signed 55 crores MOU in last November. He also met Industry director Himachal and Industry minister, Himachal, and pitched the food processing tourism project. His idea bit hard as it was not only feasible but innovative. He proposed to build a resort cum factory where families could live and also process food live. It was one of its kind projects in the North to happen. The Tribune also covered this project.

The kind heart always pay off
The more he earned more he wished to do for people. He has been a trustee of NGO Sharmjivi Sevalay doing CSR activities through them for 7-8 years. He built Billimora and Navsari. During this tough time of the pandemic, they distributed food to 3000-3500 people on a daily basis for approx 67 days. He employed women in the manufacturing unit of his textile firm gave them sewing machines to make masks. They sold all the masks for 4rs/mask. They have distributed about 2.25 lakhs masks till now.
They also signed a project with Niti Ayog which is ongoing. Other than this they are running various projects for state and central government. They have also adopted 8 schools to empower education.
Nothing comes easy- the journey of struggles
Building business from a loss has never been easy for anyone. It takes lots of dedication and belief to do that. His ideology of building for himself and others kept him going. He lives a simple life and believes roti, kapda, and makaan to be the only essentials of life.
One of the King family of Himachal tried to play politics and brought hurdles in his project. He traveled to Himachal for 3 years to execute the project and formalities of state and central government. He has slept with truck drivers for more than 30 nights but never gave up.
His ideology and message for all
Ravi Raj Desai believes investment in real estate to be the real investment and it’s most beneficial for anyone to have a land, house, or building of their own. So his message to all the people he connects is to never sell their asset in real estate.
