Mr. Vijay Maheshwari, who was born on January 3rd, 1951, is the youngest of five children. He was born and brought up in Gujarat, and his education was also from this state. He completed his schooling in Gujarat in 1967 and his graduation in 1972. He next relocated to Kolkata, where he completed his Chartered Accountancy degree in 1976. He is an avid sports fan and a talented tennis and cricket player who has represented his school or college at various levels.
His journey as a Chartered Accountant
Mr. Vijay Maheshwari, a Chartered Accountant by profession, began his professional career on October 8, 1976, when he founded Maheshwari & Associates, a Chartered Accountant Firm. The firm’s initial activities included auditing, taxation, valuation, and so on. However, these activities constituted only a small portion of total financial activities. With the goal of achieving complete inclusion, Mr. Vijay Maheshwari and his Chartered Accountant friends decided to venture into merchant banking in 1989 and established Sumedha Fiscal Services Ltd (SFSL). Despite the fact that they were fully aware of the challenges and competition, they decided to take a risk and embark on a new journey. Slowly, SFSL could establish itself in the banking and industrial sectors. It established a pan-India presence in a short period of time, with a large number of employees. SFSL now stands for “Adding Values to Value”. Presently SFSL is engaged in wide range of financial services like merchant banking, loan syndication, Restructuring, Insolvency, valuation, advisory services etc.,
He is a well-known Chartered Accountant with over four decades of financial experience. His unwavering presence and network in the financial sector add enormous value to the group. Shri Maheshwari is well-versed in financial administration, industrial management, lending principles, project financing, and so on. He is also a qualified valuer under Section 34 AB of the Wealth Tax Act of 1957. He is currently the Chairman of the CII Eastern Region and the Banking Core Committee.

Leaving the comfort zone of audit, taxation, and valuation activities to engage in a wide range of value-added financial activities requires enormous courage.
