“With hard work our dreams do come true”. This eternal piece of wisdom is the secret for all successful people. Indian actor, Sandesh Gour, is one of them. His journey to become an actor in the Entertainment industry is very inspirational. His message is people will never understand hard work, so need to focus on work. He wants youngsters aspiring a career in the acting field to have full family support and dedication in work. They need to be flexible and pursue an alternate career in direction or casting when necessary.
Early years and Education
Sandesh Gour was born on 26th August in Nagpur, Maharashtra. His father has a wholesale vegetable business and is a social worker while his mother is a housewife. His brother is a Software engineer in the USA while his sister is an architect.
His father dreamt to be an actor himself, but as he couldn’t achieve he tried to fulfill his dreams through his son. He made Sandesh participate in dance, drama and many competitions in school. Sandesh was appreciated by everyone for his acting skill. He joined science stream in his junior college and still continued to perform. After 12th standard, he took a break from studies and went to Mumbai to check different acting schools. However, as most classes were highly priced, he joined “Kreating Characters acting school” for 4 months duration. He learnt new lessons of acting in that course and completed a course in dance too. On successful completion, he returned to Nagpur and joined college to graduate in sociology. So, for 3 years of graduation he travelled back and forth between Mumbai to Nagpur for work and study.
The beginning of his journey
Sandesh’s journey as an actor started when he was born itself. His First break was Kumar Shanu’s music video “Mane na kehna diwana dil” in 2010 as a lead actor. After that he did a show in Urdu called “Zunoon”. Then he got opportunity to work with big actors and directors in the popular show “Pratigya” on television broadcasted on star plus channel.
He likes driving, music, horse riding, cycling, kick-boxing, swimming, and watching music videos.
Moving on the Journey
Sandesh has performed in various shows like Surya The Super Cop, Saraswatichandra, Savdhaan India, SuperCops vs Supervillains, Sanjeev Kapoor Ke Kitchen Khiladi, Mahisagar, CID and Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi. He worked in Sab TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and did an Episodic show Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya as protagonist named Vishwa on Zing channel. His first short film as a lead is “Muafinaama” for which he got two international film festival awards in 2015. Then he got a movie “Meeradha” which was released in 2016, and he received “Critics Award for Acting” at Darbhanga International Film Festival in January 2017 and at Lake City International Film Festival received “Special Jury Award” in April 2017 for this movie. He did Marathi movie “Jhing Premachi” in 2018 and an upcoming movie “Bhala manush”. He has been working in the industry for almost 10 years now with channels like star plus, colors, life ok, and SAB TV.
His role models are Amitabh Bachhan and Akshay Kumar as they both have struggled and worked hard. He is impressed by Amitabh Bachhan’s dance in Don Movie and Akshay Kumar’s martial arts influence. Inspired by Akshay Kumar, Sandesh learnt karate and kick boxing. He is also impressed by Akshay kumar’s discipline and punctuality at shoot. He admires TV actress Jennifer Winget and got a chance to work with her in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Saraswatichandra”.
Struggles and hindrances
Sandesh had to face many criticisms from people as they were against his father to send Sandesh in this industry. But his father had faith in his hard work. When he got a role in Pratigya serial, people doubted his talent. The biggest challenge he faced is casting directors felt his innocent looks did not fit for many roles. He has worked in web series (upcoming Comedy web series- Berozgar Balma). He acted in one telugu movie “advilo” in 2012. Not only that, but he played a negative role in Chhattisgarhi movie “DAAI” in 2012-13. Furthermore, he has faced many obstacles in career but, never gave up and kept on trying things. He likes playing romantic roles and comedy characters as he can express those feelings well. Initially he was not good at expressing grief and cry, but after he learnt during theaters he got a movie, and he played it well.
What’s in the future?
He wants to open an acting school in Mumbai to give proper guidance for aspiring actors. He wants to work in Rajkumar Hirani’s movie and with Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bacchan in the future. His dream is to achieve a national award, and Filmfare awards.
