Mumbai is a city of dreams. Everyone here comes with aspirations and a will to make it big.
Some do make it, while some are not so lucky.
Many like Sana who are born in Mumbai, have seen this city since childhood and the will to hit the goal is somewhere in the blood.
Turning point of her life
Sana Khan had her backlashes in terms of being intimidated by fellow students. Her love for fashion was criticized and she was given names that usually are a de-motivating factor. However, for Sana she took it up as a challenge to prove her critics wrong.
She had made up her mind that the fashion industry was her calling and she will make a mark for herself. In hindsight, she thanks all those bullies who made a joke of her in college, because that gave her additional zest to prove herself. She was even told that being a Muslim she shouldn’t wear western clothes – a truly irrational thought which she and her family did not pay heed to.
Social media is a part of everyone’s life and for Sana it was no different. She was on Instagram and was fortunate to have around 50K followers. A friend suggested that she use this leverage to seriously pursue fashion blogging on Instagram. She thought about it and took the plunge. Since then there was no looking back.
Having family support is half the battle one. Sana is lucky and she had the wholehearted support of her parents and brother. Why shouldn’t they be? She was part of good projects, getting paid well, winning awards and making a place for herself in this space. Her mother is a Beautician, who runs her parlour, father a retired Professor and her brother is a Doctor based in Australia. Her sister in law is a Computer Engineer. Sana has completed her graduation from L S Raheja college, Mumbai.
Struggles prepare you to take on any challenge.
Sana’s struggles, failures, rejections make her stronger and motivated her to keep going and never give up.
Every day of her life she endeavours to move a bit closer to her goals. Having godfathers is like using an escalator. However, Sana took to the stairs and climbed slowly but steadily.
Yes, that’s a tougher process and the time taken is much longer than usual, but when the mind is ready willing, nothing can deter or pull back such an individual. Having faith and will to achieve are few of the ingredients that go into this winning recipe. Struggles when taken with a dose of positivity, this is the magic potion that takes you on the many milestones we call success.
Awards, accolades, and honours come and go, but that cannot be a benchmark and Sana feels she is self-made and that is the biggest award she cherishes.
She was honoured with the Influencer of the year by Adidas, UC Miss Cricket 2019 and she has the honour to be one of the few Indians who feature on the billboard at Times Square, New York.
Some of the major projects have been completed and she is looking for releases this year. Sana is going to get featured in AR Rehman’s “Dil Se” remake by Amit Tandon , besides a project with T Series , albums with Bhavin Bhanushali and Sana is slated to host the IPL of Hello APP , behind the scenes. Sana has a very basic message for all those who wish to pursue a career in the field of entertainment – Be positive and believe in yourself. Be prepared to put in a lot of hardwork, be passionate, always be humble and be grateful – goals will be yours and along the way you will motivate and inspire others to follow their heart.
With the right attitude, support and mind and heart in the right place no aspiration is too high or no goal is farfetched.
