Pooja Vyas , an enthusiastic young girl from Surat. Like most youngsters in the generation of today, they have dreams and the guts to pursue and work at making it ‘real’ in every way. They dream with eyes wide open!
Pooja is the winner of “Tiara Mrs. India International”. She won not just the Classic but also the Tiara Mrs. Popular bagging the highest number of votes. Winning for her was indeed the best for Pooja , where even being chosen for the pageant is a dream for most women.
Not to be one resting on past laurels, Pooja started coaching for spoken English and Personality Development in Surat. A must in today’s competitive world.
In the year 1997, a place like Surat did not have institutions that imparted English coaching. A niche space, wherein Pooja used her expertise to coach students at their places. Later (2002) she founded her academy with the help of her husband and within a short span, they had four new centers in Surat under their belt.
As a forward-thinking progressive entrepreneurs, they used their experience to widen their scope of work. Personality development is an integral part of development. They ventured into this area, spreading the knowledge of developing the overall personality that needs a holistic approach. Body language is as important as the spoken and written language, be it English or any other.
Her academy Star Personality Development was founded in the year 2002 to train students on effective communication, spoken and written, grooming, and dress sense for all occasions and circumstances. A new concept that was welcome and the Academy had many well-known personalities from Surat associated with it. Every professional needs updating skills and innovations to make it interesting. Pooja was sure of this fundamental basic needed to achieve goals. She is extensively travelled and has done courses to upgrade her skills that eventually would be imparted to her students.
Pooja has her own YouTube channel called “Roshani”. Through this platform, she identifies strengths and turns it into a good career. Post “Roshani” she hosted “Pehchan”, both of which were well received and were released in two parts.
Balancing family and career is important to every woman. Pooja struck a good balance with her work and family – daughter, inlaws and her home. Support of family members is the fuel that helps keep the machinery in top gear. Spouse, parents and in laws her golden triangle.
Pooja followed a simple mantra – collective decisions with family members’ involvement most prime. Pooja’s daughter imparted a great lesson to her which motivated her, not just at that moment but keeps her motivated for life. Around the same time as the beauty pageant, Pooja’s daughter was in grade X. She was worried about sparing time for the family, her studies yet working towards the participated in the beauty pageant. Her daughter told her ” Mom why can’t we both work simultaneously work towards our own goals and bring home both – a great result and the beauty pageant crown?” A line that motivated her, giving Pooja confidence to win the crown, if not for herself then for her daughter!
Every action of ours comes with a reason. While Pooja hosted her shows she came across women who we under confident because of language, personality or situation. In order to set an example she decided to participate and bring the message home to every woman – Change your personality for yourself, world will respect you and your efforts, you will surely make an impact. The modelling world is not bad if the concerned know where to draw the line of decency. That is not just in modelling but any other field.
By way of the pageant she horned her strength, explored her own positives, learnt things by way of interacting with others from various parts of the country. Interpersonal skills were tested. Staying away from family helped her and others to value family and their love and affection which we at times take for granted. Being humane across every stratum of people was an important lesson.
Pooja feels and says there are no shortcuts and no free lunches. One has to work hard and learn to compete with better people. Success is not easy. Learning from failures is indeed the best lesson. Being married is also an adventure where the lessons imparted are important viz self-development. Patience, commitments and understanding are a few that stays with you life-long.
