The capital city of India, Delhi and the year was 1992. The onset of winter ( September 12 ), the birth of Roshni was indeed a joyous event for the Sahota family. Roshni is blessed to have a sibling, a brother who has always encouraged her. Siblings are not just individuals you rely on but in the long run, end up being confidants and friends you can count on all your life. Roshni Sahota and Charandeep Sahota held each other’s hand to guide and support. A huge advantage in today’s world.
Her schooling and college completed in New Delhi, this millennial had made up her mind on pursuing the path of acting. For some good reason, generation Y is born with ingrained courage and perseverance to follow their dreams. Roshni was no different.
Roshni’s inspiration was none other than the most beautiful woman ( Miss World) – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. An epitome of beauty and grace, Aishwarya had set a high benchmark for aspiring actors. Watching her on-screen/ stage, reading about her, watching her dance became a booster for Roshni to take on this field. The grace of Aishwarya, who she admired, especially after becoming an international style icon, Aishwarya never let go of the Indian values and traditions – both in thought and dress sense. Always wanting to be actress, a childhood dream, Roshini active in the Dramatics Club in school, the sixth sense within her told her that being an ‘actress’ was her calling. The same continued in College and Actress is what she wanted to be and indeed she did become!
Roshni and many like her were motivated to take the leap. Bollywood is a tough turf and one had to graduate in levels to get there. Roshni took part in the PTC Punjab beauty pageant to get a feel of the camera and the glamour world. She took to it like a fish to water.
Support from family plays a very vital role especially when the career choice is on the line of the movie/theatre business. Roshni’s parents and brother were a huge support to her and motivated her to pursue her dreams after realizing her passion for the stage, lights, scripts and pure acting. An industry where breaking the ice is not easy, she ventured into television serials.
A field today that has seen many new faces that take on lead roles are making it big. A platform where opportunity is in plenty, the sincere and hardworking can strike the right cord if the perfect roles come by. Roshni was lucky and bagged good roles in serials aired on Colors, StarPlus, &TV, and Sony Entertainment. Good names to be associated with and platforms that will help her take good strides into the future. From the year 2016 to 2019 Roshni has been featured in a few Punjabi movies and has done well for herself on that front.
Just as any venture, be it business, or a regular job the tides of challenges comes in with full force. The ups and downs can never be dodged. In the case of Roshni too there were ups and downs that came rolling in. Since she was persistent in her dreams and goals she never lost focus. This resilience was her motivation and each time she had the low phase she would rise like a titan.
Roshni sahota is of the firm opinion that if there are no ups and downs the graph of the line becomes a straight line – as good as ‘dead’. Hence she feels the tidal movements, in one’s life are important to stay alive. Roshni’s mantra is focused on one’s goal, goals must not falter and once the dedication of having a focal point is frozen, nothing can take away success from you. The time taken is relative and once patience becomes a part of your struggle success is inevitable. Just like every industry, this industry too has good and bad persons. It’s up to an individual to keep an alert and ensure to stay away from the bad and embrace the good. The main aim ought to be to focus on goals and the rest will follow and fall in place.
From childhood, the dreams that are seen with eyes open are aspirations and proof that life gives you a chance to pursue. You, after all, live only once and giving it your best shot is what life is about. Young achievers like Roshni sahota are those who set examples and leave footprints for those of the next generation to follow. Having a one-way trampoline that helps you bounce to the top is the easy way out; however, it is those who jump off a plateau to reach the top who are actual winners.
Roshni had the support of her family which is very fortunate and she is blessed. Support from elders is indeed the spring that helps you excel. Roshini took to her advantage the goodness she is blessed with and today is indeed a name not to be missed in the TV and Regional cinema space.
