We all are capable of doing more than we can think. Anything can be done with the right mindset. This timeless piece of knowledge is only accomplished by a few individuals. Hotelier and Businessman, Parth Khamesra, is one of them. He had to endure a lot of hardship and stay positive in all circumstances to become an entrepreneur. His message to future entrepreneurs is to learn hardship at an early age to handle hard situations.

Early years and Education

Parth Khamesra was born on 18th December 1995 in Udaipur, Rajasthan to Alka Khamesra and Rajkumar Khamesra.  He completed his schooling in Udaipur and graduated with BBA Hons. from Christ University in Bangalore. He started to work in Rajasthan by doing two months internship at The Oberoi in the finance and HR department. He liked it there and became one of the best interns in The Oberoi to be recognized by the CFO.

To learn more about the hospitality industry and business operations in general, he pursued a distance learning course, PGDM In Operations Management from NMIMS, Mumbai while working in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Parth lives in a joint family and has two sisters (Ankita and Meenal) and two first cousins( Ekta and Pal). His brother works in the USA for the gaming industry as a demand analyst and all four of them play a vital role in his life, as they push him in all ups and downs of his life.

Parth saw his father and uncle working hard to create a legacy for Parth and his sisters and cousins. To reduce the burden on his father, Parth started working at KBPL India, the parent firm of Ramya Resort and Spa.

He loves to read auto-biographies and non- fictional books. He loves to watch good contents on Netflix and Amazon prime. His Role model is Donald Trump as a business tycoon and Ratan Tata for his vision for India.

The beginning of his journey

When Parth was in 11th standard, his sister was placed in Oberoi hotel. From then, he was interested in hospitality and decided to make his future in this industry. Parth’s uncle and father have been in the family business since the last 35 years and founded Khamesra Brothers Private Limited. When Parth was in second year of his college, he received a call from his uncle (Rajesh) saying that we are building our own hotel and will you and Pal be able to run it, to which he responded with a big “YES”.  He had an idea to give a luxurious experience to people like Oberoi and Taj in their own small property which earlier was their farm house. His idea was conceptualized and he moved from Bangalore to Udaipur.

Moving on the Journey

Parth’s dedication towards his work made Ramya a profitable venture after three months. He gave credit to his family who pushed him to excel and his strong team who helped him. He is very concerned about his employees and gives them regular training and takes care of them like a family.

Ramya commercially started in July 2017. Parth and his family did shed a lot of blood and sweat and achieved to be in the top five rankings. Parth believes in maintaining good relationships even with his competitors so they gave him good business when they have overflow in their property. Corporate launches and other events are also held on Ramya’s premises.

As an Owner, Parth was involved in every department initially. He took good care of his staff and trained them well to take care of other things in his absence. Parth was also involved in the construction and mining business. He is a hospitality enthusiast focusing on creating an exceptional customer experience in the serene setting of Aravalli hills of Udaipur.

Ramya resort and Spa gave the best experience to its client as a luxury boutique resort. Parth followed international standards for his resort’s services. By incorporating proper vision, growth plan, professionalism, he made way for a great future for Ramya and KBPL.

Parth is always open to learning and tries to create a good system at KBPL and Ramya. Both properties have their own identity and currently more than 400+ employees are working at KBPL, India and about 60+ employees are working at Ramya Resort and Spa.

Struggles and hindrances

In 2016, as the project of property construction of Ramya was complete in mid way, his uncle was diagnosed with cancer. It was a hard time for his family and KBPL as he was one of the two strong pillars on which KBPL was running. As Ramya was on the verge of completion, it was hard to sustain both businesses without him. But Parth and his family kept patience and worked hard and soon things got back to normal. When the property was ready to do business in July 2017, there was a lot of negativity as Parth had started his business.  He was discouraged by other fellow hoteliers who gave negative feedback about the Hotel Industry. But Parth proved them wrong and after Ramya was doing well in its first six months itself with strong support from his family, especially from his mother (Alka) and his aunt (Meena).

When Parth and his brother came with the concept of Ramya, the brand was completely new in the market. Also with only his internship experience, he made his team very strong and selected highly qualified and experienced people who were ex Oberoi and ex Taj employees. There was financial restraint initially but gradually Ramya started making profit and succeeded to make a strong mark in the hotel industry.

What’s in the future?

Parth wants to extend the properties of Ramya Resort & Spa and KBPL, India in the future. He has plans to come with 500 rooms and six property groups at Ramya in the next five years. He wants to globalize KBPL, India business to get recognized internationally in next five or ten years and launch its IPO. He also has plans to join residential and commercial real estate business with his company’s brand name.
