“I never dreamed about success. I worked for it.”
– Estee Lauder
People who believe in this quote definitely achieve the biggest success in life. The same happened with the PR Honcho Divvya Nandrajog. Divvya never dreamed about success, because she believed dreams are meant to be dreams, instead she kept her ambition of becoming successful intact, and she proved it.
Initial Days
Divvya was born and brought up in Mumbai. From her childhood, she is extremely close to her mom, and her mom is her superwoman who ignites the passion in her.
She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Ruia College and took Public Relations as a career.
Career as a Public Relations Professional
Once Divvya completed her graduation she understood that Public Relations is one of the keys to promoting anyone and also to making him or her aware of individual strength. It is only a PR professional who can guide them to focus more on the core strength so that the person is always on the news and the public has a great relationship with the particular person.
In the year 2012, Divvya has understood her inclination towards Public Relations. She wanted to learn more about it and decided to join some corporate to learn it and thus how she joined the leading firm Hammer MSL, and handled clients like Hindustan Unilever, World Trade centre etc.
Divvya’s journey in Bollywood
Even though she is into Bollywood PR, but her journey towards Bollywood started as a Media Journalist with Stardust, Star Week (Magna Publication), DNA, and Dainik Bhaskar. Divvya always had a knack for Bollywood, and her journey to Bollywood solely took a rise when she was part of the strategies for the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) and headed Jagran Film Festivals for Crisscross Communication. She did her job in such a great way, that’s where she earned the most recognition from Bollywood honchos. Keeping this experience in her mind, in the year 2014 she joined a leading PR Agency in Mumbai- Raindrop Media where she had to handle PR for directors, designers, as well as many actors.
Her list of celebrities with whom she worked single-handedly includes Katrina Kaif, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sonam Kapoor, Pernia Quereshi, Ramcharan, Anand L Rai, Pooja Hegde, Karan Singh Grover and many more. This year Divvya has completed a decade in Bollywood PR, and now she is a formidable name in the Bollywood PR industry.
Divvya’s inclination towards building the brand image of a star was there in her from the moment she joined Bollywood. She always believes that being a star is not at all an easy job. One has to constantly think about how to maintain the image in front of the public, what to say, and etc. It is really a tough one. That’s where the personal PR professionals take an entry. Promoting and developing someone’s brand or image seemed thrilling and difficult, but it was a fantastic fit for her.
Special Memories
There are numerous particular moments to select from, ranging from leading the first campaign to helping with the promotion of the first Bollywood movie. Her most treasured memory involves helping Sushant Singh Rajput establish his brand and working closely with him. The entire process of creating his brand, from being a part of his journey before M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story days to when he became “The Sushant Singh Rajput,” was a tremendous learning experience. He was a nice man and very friendly.
Divvya, the Entrepreneur
After spending a few years working there, Divvya decided to break out in 2018 and open her own company, One Communication, where she now manages the public personas of numerous actors and artists.
Divvya’s tips on handling stress at work
The fact that no two days are ever the same in this career is its most exciting feature. It’s exciting and unpredictable. There are difficulties because we are in charge of individuals who are constantly being taught what to do by everyone, not always by the best of intentions. However, maintaining both client and media satisfaction while walking a tightrope is no simple task. Nonetheless, there are always new things being learned and individuals managing. Her ideas for promoting my clients and positioning them as Superstars or Best Actors excite her greatly. Now she is a brand herself.
Future Planning
Divvya thinks about her ambition and makes it fruitful. Now she has an ambition of taking her company, One Communications to the PAN India and Global level. It requires lots of hard work, and she is not at all afraid of it. She is working hard and planning to make it successful in near future.
Divvya’s recreational activities
Though it’s very difficult for her to manage her time in between such a tough work life, but whenever she gets time she devotes it to reading and dancing. She loves to explore adventures and travelling. In between her hard work life, whenever she can manage time she goes out for vacation.
Divvya’s parting words
She began her career working for a relatively small PR firm, where publicity was handled one-to-one with celebrities. Now that’s not true anymore. The current pace of life is very hectic, so there is barely any time for developing a bond. With the proliferation of media companies, it has only gotten tougher. In spite of the boom in actors, writers, makers, and influencers brought by OTT platforms, the media has become very selective, which makes the job of a publicist harder. In order to succeed in this career, she recommends being persistent and developing a thick skin. Work round-the-clock, including Sundays and vacations, because there are no days off here!
Divvya always wanted to be a Veterinarian since her childhood because of her love for animals. From her childhood only, she always used to say that some strict rules need to be imposed for animal rights in our country. She can’t accept the fact that animals are ill-treated. She wants to create foster homes for all the animals in every city so that no street animals sleep hungry, and are treated with love and respect. With time her inclination towards becoming a doctor shifted though but her love for animals remains the same.
