Kids always used to insist parents and elders for the things they want. One sibling used to complain parent about why one is getting such privilege and I am not getting such. Similar incidence happened in the case of Avni Savaliya. Brother of her used to go to the swimming with his father and grandfather since very young age. Later on, she asked his father and grandpa to take her too. She was denied initially but she insisted them.
Avni Savaliya born and brought up in the Rajkot. she has natural passion of swimming since childhood. She has completed her schooling from Kotak, Atmiya and Tapasvi and graduated from the Christ college. She holds Bachelor of Arts in English degree. Later on, Avni opted Hotel management field, she did PG Diploma in the Hotel Management from DIMS, Ahmedabad. She went to Goa for the hotel management internship for the upgradation.
Initial days in the swimming
She has started swimming with her father and grandfather when she was of just three and half years. She jumped into the sea swimming at the age of five. She continued swimming with her studies, started learning and participating in the swimming competitions. She has started swimming as her career and started learning from her coach Mr. Bankim Joshi.
In the year 2006, Avni and her family experienced a huge loss. She lost her father when she was of just 12 years. She got enitre strengths and supports from her mother and brother for her career. They have asked her to continue her swimming activities. she was lucky to get all round support from her family and institutes.
Passion of swimming and many feathers on the cap
Passion of swimming became the reasons for many achievements for her. she has completed holy Ganga River swimming of 19km in just 3 hours. She took parts in Porbandar sea swimming competition for the consecutive seven years where she bagged third, second and first ranks too. She took parts Saurashtra University Swimming competition and won championship title and maintained same for five years.
In the years 2000 and 2001 she won 200 meters district level competition. In the year 2004, she won 500 meters open sea Gujarat swimming competition. She awarded by Rajkot District Swimming association and felicitated for various achievements. In the year 2006, she won 100 meters Open Saurashtra Sea Swimming competition.
Avni at the National level
From State level Avni has started taking parts in the national level competition. She has started with Murshidabad Swimming association competition held in the year 2008. In 2009, Avni has secured 3rd rank in the national swimming competition. She performed in the National level competition for female swimmers in the Bhopal in the National Sports Festival – 2009.
Shining star of Savaliya Family
Avni has secured 2nd rank in the Open Gujarat 400 Meters Sea swimming competition – 2009, 1st rank in the child swimmer category for district level competition organized by Sports Authority of Gujarat. In the years 2012-13 Avni has secured 1st rank for Saurashtra University Inter College Tournament for 800 meters, and 2nd rank in the Open Gujarat 1000 Meters Sea Swimming competition.
In the year 2013 she has secured 1st rank for free style 400 meters swimming competition at district level in the Khel Mahakumbh and at Shri Chinmoy Swimming competition – Rajkot for 200 meters competition. Christ institute honoured Avni with the award “ Best Sports Person of the Year 2013” for her remarkable achievement in the swimming field.
After these all achievements she drew attention of media by taking part in the Arabian Sea Adventure Expedition, held on 20 Feb to 6 March 2022 amid lot of challenges.
Now what is the next!
She has sacrifices a lot for her individual, social and family events and associations for fulfilment of her forte. she has to bare personal attacks of criticism but which made her stronger and placed her as a coach in RMC. Challenges and hurdles prepared her strongly for the seven ocean swimming.
Beside Swimming what!
She likes yoga, playing guitar, helping nature, spending time with pets, travelling and reading. She believes in giving back to the society. Her another achievement was securing 3rd rank in the district level yoga competition.
