Hemal Maulesh Dave is one among the many very dynamic, influential, motivational personalities from Rajkot, Gujarat. Gujarat has credit of many such successful go getter women. Hemal is the founder of Ojaswini foundation. This foundation is aimed at focusing on issues relating to women and child principally. Counselling, protection against women and child abuse , child labour, awareness of their rights, organ donations, environment awareness , parent counselling that are taken up at schools among other activities like yoga centers and storytelling sessions in schools . Sanitary hygiene for women, an area that was until recently neglected, however thanks to the movie ‘Padman’ things have changed for the better. Ojaswini is into distribution of women’s sanitary products among the underprivileged and uneducated. De-addiction, anganwadi adoption and other women’s health related issues taken up with doable solutions.
Hemal Dave is also an anchor, TV & Drama artist, casual announcer in All India Radio, Interviewer in Doordarshan, Columnist in cocktail Zindagi and Rajkot Mirror, Motivational speaker and orator. Creative on many platforms is her forte. Sometimes you wonder how she wears so many hats! Guess that’s what great minds are made of!
She is a music lover, has completed two years of course for singing and harmonium playing. A degree in Guitar playing , which also gave her technical knowledge about playing musical instruments and singing. She has done a few roles for couple of short films and drama too. Social work, book reading love and spirituality is in her genes. Her father has created a library at their house since 1969 and he was an ardent Osho devotee. That is the reason why she and the family love books and are inclined towards spirituality.
She is at a phase in life where the sailing is smooth as her daughters are both settled. Hemal’s elder daughter is an RJ in Canada and younger daughter, Heer is studying to be a Business Analyst in Canada. She also has an Engineering degree in IT. Heer is very a talented choreographer and has bagged plenty of awards and prizes. Like her mother, Though Hemal has only two daughter, she dotes on her third – her pet Labrador. Hemal, a nature lover has a vision to uplift the poor and underprivileged and function as a primary support platform for civil society whereby doing her bit to create a better the world and social justice.
Hemal, is doing all that she does for inner peace and self-satisfaction, not for publicity or to get funded. She is managing her foundation with her own funds. Among many awards and felicitations received Hemal has won the ” Iron Lady of Rajkot ” award from Red FM in 2017.
