Her journey to becoming a successful model in the entertainment industry is very inspirational.
Early years and Education
Binaifer Nagra was born and brought up in Mumbai. She belongs to a Parsi family. Her father headed a Multinational company while her mother was a LIC gold medallist and a fashionista of her time. She completed her studies at Christ Church School and KC College in Churchgate, Mumbai.
Binaifer was extremely creative from childhood and she also wrote television series. Her hobbies include choreography, writing stories and collecting art.
The beginning of her journey
After completing her schooling, Binaifer got into modeling, ramp walks prestigious show project. It was over there that she met her husband Mr. Sanjay Kohli who was India’s number one model. They worked together for a few years in several projects. After that, Binaifer started working in the choreography field. She did a few piggy shows as a choreographer. Binaifer and her husband also ran an advertising agency. Later they got their first show by Zee TV.
To inspire her in life, she likes to learn from experiences. She considers Ratan Tata as her role model and has learned a lot from him.
Her family is extremely supportive and everyone including her husband, kids, in laws, parents are all her great support in her journey. She likes being with people in her life. Spending time with her family and friends makes her very happy in life. She values relationships and is not desirous of material things.
She thinks if she could not be into the entertainment industry, then she would rather be into her own business, politics or IPS job where she could have served others or done something for her country.
Moving on the Journey
Binaifer and her husband worked in “Family Number 1” show for Sony. Shortly after that, they started taking more work for serial productions under their newly started production house “”Edit II. “Family Number 1” show became the first serial to get nominated internationally. This serial also received recognition as one of best five television serials in Indian television history. They both also produced “FIR”, a show that also ran for 9 years. Their work in the show “May I Come In Madam” was a huge success. After that, she worked on several projects like “ Jijaji chhat per hai” and the Iconic show “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai “ is running successfully in it’s sixth year. Her show Bhabhji is also getting many awards and great recognition. They are currently producing the second part of her show Jijaji that is coming soon. In addition to this they produced “ Yeh hain mere apne, Pappa Ban Gaye Hero, Happu ki ultan paltan, May I come-in madam!” are some more popular serials produced by her.
Struggles and hindrances
She considers struggle as part of life. She likes to learn from experience and move ahead. During her initial period in the industry, she faced failure of projects after a few months of efforts and investment. However all this experience helped her and she is really grateful for the channels she worked with in the industry.
She believes that the industry brings happiness and entertainment in the life of many people. In order to make others happy and entertain them at the end of day, people work very hard day and night in the industry. However there is a constant feeling of insecurity in the industry which she does not like.
What’s in the future?
Binaifer has a couple of web series planned over the next three years. However she wants to go slow and concentrate on one show rather than multiple shows.
