“Only you can create your own life, no one will create it for you” are the wise words by corporate professional turned French teacher cum model, Jyoti Chhabria. Her journey to become a model in the Fashion industry is very inspirational. Her message is that fashion is not only connected to modeling but also with different professions in general. Likewise, her motto is to make women of different professions feel confident and beautiful through participating in beauty contests. Every woman would like to be a model, so giving them a platform to showcase their talent will be a nice way to empower them. She wants more people to enter the fashion industry, make their mark and achieve great heights of success.
Early years and Education
She was born in Mumbai. As her father was in the business of dealing electrical spare parts, they shifted to Chennai and Coimbatore after a brief stay in Mumbai. She completed her bachelor’s in chemistry as a gold medalist. Then she came back to Mumbai and got married to a real estate developer.
She started her corporate journey through a pharmaceutical company in 1991-92. She was in the marketing and sales department and gradually became marketing manager in another company. Eventually she left her corporate career in 2017 and started learning French as she was always passionate to teach. She joined Alliance Française de Bombay, which is an official institute to learn French in Mumbai. She did a certificate course there to teach and then started teaching French around 2 years back.
The beginning of her journey
When she was teaching her children and friends encouraged her to try modelling. Her children also insisted her to go in the fashion field. Eventually she decided to enroll for the beauty pageant last year. After that, she participated in several national and international pageants and won while teaching French simultaneously. She started her own classes and became Edupreneur.
She does not have one role model rather she tries to learn something from everyone. She continuously looks up to herself and tries to improve. Her children inspired her to go in the field and are her biggest supporters. Her husband and her family are also very supportive of her choices.
Her hobbies include reading motivating books, listening to music and relaxing with her children. She believes in gratitude and writes about the things she is grateful for in her life every day.
Moving on the Journey
She has Won Mrs. Timeless Beauty title at MIG Mrs. India Globe 2019, an International Beauty pageant in Dubai and also won Mrs. Go Red title at Mrs. Glamorous India 2019, a National beauty pageant in Goa. She was Model in Mumo Fusion Fashion show 2019, Mumbai.
She is the second model from India to be featured in Eterno gallery, which is an international fashion gallery that features models from across the globe. . She has been a former NCC cadet and former NSS volunteer. Not only that, but she is a French professor in an International school and Gold medalist in French.
She is vice president of Maharashtra intellectual wing and also for Dubai. She won the Women of Substance award in October 2020. She is the CEO for Rabiaz Walk for a Cause Fashion show for multiple shows and supporting partner for Eduqueen National Beauty pageant. Furthermore, she is Member of the Curating team for International Designer Sanjana Jon’s Travel Magazine photoshoot in February 2020. She was a Special guest for Dental camp at Canossa Convent School, Andheri East. She is Jury for Mrs. Power Puff 2019, a beauty pageant arranged by the Fusion Group in Mumbai. She was State Director for Mrs. Beauty Queen India 2019, Goa, and national level beauty pageant. Not only that, but she is Fashion Director for an International School Annual Festival and is a Mental Health Awareness Campaigner with Poddar Foundation. She is certified in Six Sigma Green Belt and trained in Six Sigma Black Belt.
Struggles and hindrances
She faced difficult time initially in the journey of modeling as she was the first from her family to enter this field and had no knowledge. However, she learned to do things gradually and her firm belief in God helped to get the answers. As her family was conservative, they resisted her choice of career in the fashion field initially but eventually they agreed and supported her.
What’s in the future?
She plans to continue getting associated with Fashion Shows in senior profiles as Guest /Chief Jury/Supporting partner/Showstopper. She desires to encourage more and more people of all age groups to walk the ramp and fulfill their dreams and desires.
